It is a known fact – or should be – that the Jewish state grants the right to vote to all its citizens without distinction of race, religion, or gender.

And this has been the case since its creation.

Now there are « only » twelve parties in the National Assembly in France, but no less than fifteen lists in the Israeli parliament following the 2022 elections.. Ranging from the ultra-Right to the far left, including religious and ultra-religious parties and two Arab lists, they reflect the great diversity of opinions in a country with barely ten million inhabitants.

Need it to be said as well ? In Israel, speech is free, and everyone can express themselves without fear.

There is something else that the world refuses to see : there has been a profound change in Israel as a result of the atrocities of 7 October, the tragedy of the hostages still being held in inhumane conditions and the continuation of the war.

A seething indignation at the indifference displayed in the face of the suffering of the – Israeli – population, a refusal to mobilize for the hostages. Emotions are running high, and people speak their mind with no thoughts for consequences.

Thus the provocative and false statement of an unelected politician. Though immediately condemned in a rare intervention by the President of the State, by the Speaker of the Knesset and by leaders of all the Zionist parties, it provoked an international outcry.

Yet neither the United Nations, nor Agence France Presse, always ready to report often baseless accusations, have been able to document the case of a single Palestinian child having died of starvation. Or even an adult.

For eighteen months now, we hear repeated claims of Israel starving people and committing genocide. Eighteen months during which, according to the so respectable « Hamas Ministry of Health », fifty to sixty thousand Gazans, fighters, and civilians, young, old, and sick, have lost their lives as a result of a war unleashed by the terrorist movement that is still putting conditions to end it.

Let us say it bluntly: it is thanks to the humanitarian aid that Israel has so generously let in that this movement has been able to hold on for so long and continues to hold on. It is the first time in history that a country under attack has been forced by the international community to provide its aggressors with the means to keep on fighting.

A community that could have, that should have, conditioned this aid on the immediate release of all the hostages kidnapped and held in violation of the laws of war and humanitarian law in general.

In Gaza, only Israeli hostages are starved, and many of them have already died. In Gaza, only Israeli babies are deliberately slaughtered, such as Kfir Bibas – nine months old – and his “big” brother Ariel – four years old.

They were strangled with bare hands by terrorists motivated by blind hatred.
