This is the Best Kept Secret in all of Jerusalem

Only in Israel does botany collide with history in such a meaningful way. Israel is full of the wide range of plants, flowers and trees referred to in the bible. The Jerusalem Botanical Gardens has brought thousands of them to one place for the public to visit and revel in. From the Tamarisk tree which Abraham planted in Beer-Sheva to the Myrrh tree used as one of the incense spices in the Holy Temple and as a metaphor in king Solomon’s Song of Songs, “My beloved is for me like a bag of myrrh…” (Song of Songs 1:13).
This is the place to see the seven species unique to the land of Israel as found in Deuteronomy (8:8) “A land of wheat and barley, and vines and fig-trees and pomegranates; a land of olive-trees and honey.”

This botanical garden is like no other. It is a place to experience Jewish history, culture and the bible, authentically and powerfully through the native plants, trees and flowers of the land of Israel.
